“Fun on the water” for Chernobyl Orphans’ Fund Charity

The local charity – Chernobyl Orphans Fund which has been working in Belarus and the Ukraine for the last 13 years is to bring children to Cork Week on Tuesday 13th July.  This year 45 children from the Orphanage are visiting Ireland from the 3rd July – 25th July.

The Charity’s mission is to help those effected by the Chernobyl disaster, especially the children of Belarus.  The organisation is made up of the workers from Bus Éireann, Eircom, friends and families in Cork, Macroom, Bantry, Belmullet and the Horgan Foundation.  Since 2008 the charity has been involved with bringing children from Belarus to Ireland for recuperation holidays.  This year the children are going to get an adventure “afloat” on a day trip to Cork Week 2010.

The Charity and Event Organisers have arranged for the children to go on the water with their minders and experience yacht racing “up close”.  Afterwards the children will be treated to refreshments shoreside where they will be able to experience the fun atmosphere in the tented village.

Cork Week organisers are delighted to be able to assist the charity in organising this fun event and look forward to welcoming the children to Crosshaven.
