The entertainment programme for the 2008 ACCBank Cork Week was announced this week at the Kiln bar, at Heineken Ireland, Cork. Headline Acts include Revenge, Aslan, The Walls, Bagatelle and Paddy Casey. ACCBank Cork Week begins on July 12th at the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven, Co. Cork and is equally famous throughout the sailing world for both the quality of the racing and the shoreside fun.
ACC Bank Cork Week’s entertainment programme kicks off on Saturday July 12th, with Revenge, one of Ireland’s most popular cover bands who have already captured the spirits of thousands, playing to packed audiences, in hundreds of venues in every corner of the country.
Sunday sees Aslan make their Crosshaven debut. Recently named Best Irish Band at the Meteor Awards, beating off the likes of Ash, Delorentos and The Flaws, Aslan have sold out some of Ireland’s largest venues numerous times. The band recently hit the Number 1 spot with Christy Dignam & Billy McGuinness appearing on “The Ballad of Ronnie Drew”.
The Walls play on Monday July 14th, Best known for their hit “To the Bright and Shining Sun”, the band have a reputation as one Ireland’s best live acts. Bono liked them so much that he invited the band to support U2 at their second massive sold-out show in Slane Castle alongside acts such as the Foo Fighters. They have also played support to Bob Dylan and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
“Bagatelle”, the band who brought us such classic hits like: “Summer in Dublin”, “Second Violin”, “Love is the Reason” and “Leeson Street Lady” play ACCBank Cork Week on Tuesday July 15th. “Summer in Dublin” was a classic overnight success when it was first released and captured the heart of the nation ever since.
The hugely popular Paddy Casey plays Wednesday night, July 16th, Paddy Casey’s music appeals to a wide audience, with his hugely successful 2003 album “Living” certified 11-times platinum in Ireland. Regularly in the Irish charts with such hits as “Saints and Sinners”, “The Lucky One”, “Bend Down Low” and “Want It Can`t Have It”, he is sure to draw in the crowds.
Thursday night is headlined by J-90 whose outstanding dedication to rock and pop is going to put these five boys from Cork on the map. They have a rock n’ roll image and ability to get the crowds on the dance floor with their musical talent and entertaining stage presence.
Finishing out the week on Friday 18th July are, Blue Moose, who are firmly established as one of Ireland`s most in-demand bands, constantly and tirelessly on tour, both at home and in the UK, bringing their energetic and entertaining live show to thousands of enthusiastic spectators.
Tickets for all shows will be €25, except for Paddy Casey – €30, and go on sale next Monday 14th April at 9am from all Ticketmaster outlets nationwide or ticketmaster.ie
