The Royal Cork Yacht Club will play host to the third running of the Beaufort Cup, an International Inter Service Sailing Regatta open to the Navy, Coast Guard, Army, Airforce, Police and other Rescue Services. The winning crew will again take home the specially commissioned trophy in honour of Sir Francis Beaufort, creator of the Beaufort Scale and €10,000 to be donated to a charity of their choice.
The week long event will begin on Monday 13th July with an Offshore Race which will see crews race from the home of the Irish Naval Service, Haulbowline Island, to the Fastnet Rock and back to Cork Harbour. This will be followed by three exhilarating days of inshore racing concluding on Friday 17th July.
Comdt. Barry Byrne and his team from the Defence Forces will be favourites this year following hard fought victories in 2016 and 2018 on board the J109, ‘Joker 2’.

Admiral of the Royal Cork Yacht Club and Cork300 Chairman, Colin Morehead, said: “We’re delighted to welcome The Beaufort Cup back in what is a very special year for the Royal Cork Yacht Club as we celebrate our tricentenary. The event has quickly established itself as one of the marquee events in the Irish Sailing Calendar and with a prestigious trophy, €10,000 and Boat of the Week all up for grabs, I’m sure the competition will be very strong again this year”.
