BEAUFORT CUP RETURNS TO CORK HARBOUR

The Royal Cork Yacht Club will play host to the third running of the Beaufort Cup, an International Inter Service Sailing Regatta open to the Navy, Coast Guard, Army, Airforce, Police and other Rescue Services. The winning crew will again take home the specially commissioned trophy in honour of Sir Francis Beaufort, creator of the Beaufort Scale and €10,000 to be donated to a charity of their choice.

The week long event will begin on Monday 13th July with an Offshore Race which will see crews race from the home of the Irish Naval Service, Haulbowline Island, to the Fastnet Rock and back to Cork Harbour. This will be followed by three exhilarating days of inshore racing concluding on Friday …

Cork will host an International Power Boat Festival this summer

An International Power Boat Festival will take place in Cork Harbour and the waters off the Cork coast on 11th and 12th July 2020.

The Festival, which is a first for Ireland, is part of the Cork300 events series, which celebrates the Royal Cork Yacht Club’s 300th birthday (tricentenary) – the oldest yacht club in the world.

Four major, and very different, powerboat events will take place during the Festival, three of which will be held in Ireland for the first time.  The Royal Cork Yacht Club is inviting a mix of classic boats from the past along with solar and alternative energy boats of the future, and endurance offshore racing boats.
