International Invitation Series

In addition to the hectic week`s activities on the water during this year’s ACCBank Cork Week at Crosshaven in Ireland there will now be an International Invitation Series held in the same waters on Saturday, July 12th in association with the ISA SailFleet Programme.

Crews entered for ACCBank Cork Week are invited to participate in a Series of fleet races in J80’s where the organisers will provide the bulk of the crew so that only a helm and tactician are required of the visiting competitors. Entertainment Programme Launched

The entertainment programme for the 2008 ACCBank Cork Week was announced this week at the Kiln bar, at Heineken Ireland, Cork. Headline Acts include Revenge, Aslan, The Walls, Bagatelle and Paddy Casey. ACCBank Cork Week begins on July 12th at the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven, Co. Cork and is equally famous throughout the sailing world for both the quality of the racing and the shoreside fun.

ACC Bank Cork Week’s entertainment programme kicks off on Saturday July 12th, with Revenge, one of Ireland’s most popular cover bands who have already captured the spirits of thousands, playing to packed audiences, in hundreds of venues in every corner of the country.

IRC Cert Alert

IRC delivery now 4 weeks! – IRC Ratings Report – April 3, 2008 There is now strong evidence of the huge workload in the IRC Rating Office in the form of slower deliveries. Production time for IRC certificates is now the longest delivery period seen this year so far. Some who had applied in early March are expected to receive their IRC certificates later this week.RORC have assured us that their systems are operating flat out but hope to be able to deliver all IRC certificates within 4 weeks of application. The implications of this for Irish boatowners who have yet to apply is that they now run a serious risk of not getting their IRC rating in time for …

News Updates

Gentlemans Class – This is for those who wish to race without Spinnakers, Gennakers or Cruising Chutes. We expect circa 60 boats in this division and the class may be further split to keep numbers in the 20-30 boats per class.

IRC Class(es) – We expect up to 12 divisions with circa 30 boats per class. As always we intend keeping the bands tight to ensure good close racing.

1720 Class – Indications are we should have circa 20 boats and the class have decided to sail on all courses during the week, ensuring plenty of variety.

SB3 Class – We are told by the class to expect up to 60 boats.

Sigma 38 Class

The Sigma 38 Class have decided to include ACCBank Cork Week on their racing calendar for 2008.  The Class are very confident of having 15 boats which will guarantee their own class start.  The Class will sail on a different course each day and take advantage of the variety offered at ACCBank Cork Week.

ACCBank Cork Week will be the Sigma 38 European Championships.  Boats from Ireland, France, Scotland, all over England and possible Holland are expected to make the journey for this event which has long been an important part of the racing calendar.  Past participants particularly enjoy the wide variety of racing Cork offers as well as the social side.  This sociable class moors up together,  meets every …
